Norman “Doug” Leslie Goude

Norman “Doug” Leslie Goude, 90, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in his home on
August 28, 2026. Born December 3, 1935, in Georgetown County, South Carolina, Doug lived a life
grounded in faith, family, hard work, and service to others.

Doug was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Jannes Doretha Goude. Together, they built a life and a
home in Beaufort, where they made countless memories and raised a loving family. Their marriage was a
testament to faithfulness, love, and commitment.

A man of strong faith, Doug placed his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ throughout his life. He was a faithful
member of Community Bible Church and found great joy in sharing his faith and values with his family.
His faith was reflected not only in his words, but in the way he lived—quietly, faithfully, and with love
for those around him.

Doug dedicated 36 years of his working life to Sears as a service repairman. He was known for his strong
work ethic, dependability, and willingness to help others. He also proudly served his country as a member
of the U.S. National Guard.

While Doug was a man of many accomplishments, his greatest joy was his family. He was a strong and
faithful husband, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a treasured friend to many. To
his family and those who loved him, he was affectionately known as “Papa”. His family will remember
his steady presence, his love, his wisdom, and the many memories they shared together.
Doug and Jannes especially enjoyed traveling across the United States in their RV. Together, they
explored the country, enjoyed new adventures, and created cherished memories along the way. These
travels were a special chapter of their life together and reflected Doug’s appreciation for family,
companionship, and the beauty of God’s creation.

Doug is survived by his wife, Jannes Doretha Goude; his sons, Anthony Norman Goude (Amy
Goude), Leslie Leo Goude (Pamela Goude), and Morrell Pope Goude (Vicki Goude); and his daughter,
Michelle Pope Goude Chitty (Adam Chitty) and sister, Ozzie G. Lambert.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler Bodkins; Skylan Bodkins Webster (Garrett Webster);
Seth Chitty, Kaleb Chitty, Whitney Chitty; Mason Sundell; Shane Goude (Erin Goude); Jake Goude
(Emalee Goude); Katlin Goude Guarino (Dent Guarino); and Emily Goude; as well as his great-
grandchildren, Brantley Goude, Grayson Goude, Jackson Goude, Robert Finn Goude, Dean
Drawdy, and Logan Chase Drawdy, Ginny Webster, Hayley Webster, Wyatt Webster. He is also
survived by his sister, Ozzie G. Lambert.

Doug is the son of the late John Leslie McFarland Goude and Annie Ruth Russ Goude. He is
predeceased by five siblings, Lloyd Goude, Laurice “Boo” Goude, Jennylee Miller, Ruth Miller, and
Louvenia Jacobs, son-in-law, Eddie Bodkins and grandson Chase Goude (Tanner Goude).
Doug’s life was one of faith, family, service, and love. His legacy will live on in the family he cherished,
the lives he touched, and the many memories he leaves behind. Though he will be deeply missed, his
family finds comfort in knowing that his faith has carried him home to be with his Lord.

The family will receive friends and family at the Anderson Funeral home for visitation at 10:00, Friday,
September 4, 2026. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will take place at
the Goude Family Home, 50 Cherokee Farms Road, at 1:00.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever our Papa Goude.
