In Loving Memory of Judith Corbett
Judith Corbett, born June 12, 1941, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, generosity, and countless cherished memories. She was the beloved daughter of Herbert and Rose Field.
Judy was a devoted Catholic, a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and a treasured friend to many. She was a proud New Yorker whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. To know Judy was to be blessed by her presence—and if Judy knew you, you could almost guarantee she was praying for you.
She is survived by her three sons, Michael Schael of Cambridge, Wisconsin; Daniel Schael and his wife,
Angela, of Beaufort, South Carolina; and Thomas Schael and his wife, Diane, of Carpentersville, Illinois. She
also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Avery Schael of Astoria, New York, and Spencer Schael of
Carpentersville, Illinois.
Judy is also survived by her sisters, Linda Kelly and her husband, Owen, and Laura Castro and her husband,
Rob, as well as her sister-in-law, Marie Field, all of Long Island, New York. She also leaves behind three nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Field, and her niece, Allison Kelly.
Anyone who knew Judy knew her giving nature, her wonderful hugs, and, if you were especially fortunate, her famous homemade cookies. She never knew a stranger and had an extraordinary ability to make people feel welcome, loved, and cared for.
Judy had a true green thumb and found joy in being outdoors, exploring, and gardening. She also had a
passion for genealogy, cooking for family and friends, and entertaining. She took great pride in creating
beautiful holiday tables and gathering the people she loved around them. But above all, what filled Judy’s
heart and brought the biggest smile to her face was being surrounded by her family and being an active part of her church and community.
Her faith was at the heart of how she lived her life, and Judy was always looking for ways to serve others. She gave generously to those in need, drove friends to medical appointments, ran errands, prepared and
delivered meals, and visited residents in nursing homes, often bringing the family dog, Bruno, along to
brighten their days. Judy also lovingly baked and prepared meals for church functions and was a devoted and loyal participant in Walking with Purpose, as well as several Bible study and support groups, where she
formed some of her most cherished friendships.
Judy’s kindness was never about recognition. She simply saw a need and found a way to help. She gave her time, her talents, her food, her hugs, her prayers, and most importantly, her heart.
Judy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church community, and the many people whose lives she
touched. Her legacy will live on through the love she gave so freely, the traditions she created, the prayers she offered, the cookies she shared, and the countless acts of kindness that became a part of who she was.
Heaven gained one of the best.
Judy’s life was a gift, her love was abundant, and her memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In place of flowers, please make donations in Judy's honor to St. Peter's Catholic Church or St. Judes Hospital.
